Utilizing the intricate production method named incalmo, these bowls are beautiful pieces! Made utilizing a special technique, they are quite labor intensive. The gaffer must gather one color, blow a bubble, tweeze it open into a cone shape, press that cone onto a glass “cookie” of another color that has been scissored from another rod, allow them to melt together by moving back and forth from the glory hole, blow a new bubble, and finally transfer the piece to another rod for opening. More than two colors and the process is repeated before the transfer to the pontil rod. Now that takes a craftsman of some skill!
